This development has the potential to impact on the operation of Parr Street Studios and its associated businesses. We understand that this may be of disappointment to some. However, it is explained below how this has come to pass:
Parr Street Studios have been based in this building since 1991. In 2006 the freehold, business and equipment were purchased by a consortium of local businessmen as a short-term stop gap to turn around the business. The building was developed to accommodate two bars, 11 offices and a 18-bedroom hotel in the place of former recording space, with two studios remaining.
The building and business (essentially landlord and hotel) had been marketed as a "going concern" by the consortium in 2013, however this was suspended due to a lack of interest. The consortium again tried to market the building in 2018, removing any restrictions to a sale. This was triggered by an indication that the tenant who operated the studios were actively seeking alternative, purpose built premises, capable of using latest advances in their industry. There were a handful of indications of interest in the "going concern" of the business, however negotiations were unsuccessful.
The freeholder is therefore entertaining sensible, unrestricted offers for the business or building and its redevelopment.
This section attempts to answer some of the questions you may have about the studios.

WHO ARE YOU?
PJ Percival is a locally run company geared towards providing high quality residential and apart-hotel accommodation in Liverpool City Centre.
WHY REDEVELOPMENT?
Redevelopment is the only option that can bring around positive transformation for Parr Street and the associated regeneration benefits. Given the changing nature of business - both for the landlords of Parr Street and the tenants, and the restricted nature of the buildings, redevelopment is the only realistic model .
What About the Studios?
As PJ Percival are independent from the studios and its associated businesses, the future of the studios is unknown. However, we have been informed that the tenant who occupies the recording studios has indicated to the landlord that they are actively pursuing alternative, purpose-built accommodation which can better exploit advances in technology.
Do you intend to COMMEMORATE
the Studios?
Liverpool City Council have requested a public art contribution to be made by the developer, should permission be granted. This contribution could be used to commemorate the studios. How the proposals commemorate the recording studios and the artists who played there is down to you.
